Stage Performance:To us, the stage is a platform that helps build a child’s confidence and esteem. At the end of the camps, parents are invited to a stage performance where their children perform what they learnt with us. Unlike a conventional school where only the top students are selected for a stage performance, we ensure that each and every child performs on the stage.
This performance goes a long way in building the child’s overall personality and moving out stigmas such as stage fright.
Night Camp:At the end of the course, our students have an opportunity to experience an overnight stay with other campers under the supervision of the teachers. This opportunity helps in making them more responsible and boosts their self-confidence. It gives them an experience of being independent and managing their own belongings.
For the year 2018, the holiday camps will be conducted on the below mentioned dates:
|Holiday Camps||Dates for 2018|
|Spring Camp||18th March – 5th April|
|Summer Camp||1st July – 31st August|

Institute of Determination
Every child is special and should be able to undergo the experience of attending a school. However, some children struggle in a regular school due to certain hidden difficulties. Institute of determination is a skill-based program that works towards maximizing the brain’s potential. We keep our class strengths smaller than regular schools to cater to every child’s individual skills and needs. The students are grouped on the basis of their abilities and level of difficulties. The various levels are: Foundation (Kg 1 & 2), Beginners (Grade 1 & 2), Intermediate (Grade 3 & 4), Advance (Grade 5 & 6), Starters (Grade 7 & 8), Movers (Grades 9 & 10), Flyers (Grades 11 & 12).
Apart from offering major subjects like english, grammar, general knowledge, computers, and mathematics, we also offer them occupational therapy. We give them different gross motor skill development opportunities with activities like dancing, aerobics, yoga and meditation, and swimming. Activities like pottery and arts and crafts are offered for developing their fine motor skills and speech therapy for developing communication skills.
The kids are taken to various experiential field trips which are educative and fun! For example, we take them to supermarkets and teach them how to make a purchase in the market and money transaction at the counter. We organize metro trips to teach them how to commute by metro, and how to purchase a ticket and refill the balance in their NOL cards using machines at the station. We believe that kids need some entertainment while learning at school, so we keep one day in a week solely for entertainment. We conduct one dish parties where kids get homemade food (one dish each) for their entire class, and alternatively take them to museums and parks as well.
Students of Institute of Determination are finally guided towards an open schooling/homeschooling system where they can procure Grade 12 equivalence, by choosing academic or vocational subjects which are internationally recognized.
The Institute of Determination runs for 3 terms spanning over 10 months in an academic year. The first term is from April to June, the second term is from September to December and the third term is from January to March. The students can also opt for a single term in the entire year or he/she can also opt for a few specific programs from the entire course.
Psychometric tests (Sessions with Dr. Alka/Senior Psychologist)
Psychological assessments support understanding the individual better. Along with the tests, the psychologist also spends the time to understand more about the individual’s family background, structure and history, information about the individual’s birth, developmental milestones, medical history, previous assessments administered and previous therapies such as speech or occupational therapy. All these factors have an impact on an individual’s personality. They can also help determine an individual’s potential for achievement and to identify their strengths and weaknesses. Based on these assessments, various remedial or supportive actions or programs can be recommended.
Some of the assessments we conduct are:
- WIAT: Wechsler Individual Achievement Test helps assess academic strengths and weaknesses of individuals between the ages of 4-85
- Brown’s ADD/ADHD: Dr. Brown has developed assessment tools to help assess executive function impairments associated with ADD/ADHD and related problems
- Raven’s Progressive Matrices: RPM is a nonverbal group test, typically used in educational settings for ages of 5-85, consisting of 60 multiple choice questions in order of difficulty
- DSM-5: Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorder intends to facilitate an objective assessment of symptom presentations
- 16PF: The 16 Personality Factor is a questionnaire to self-assess personality
- DAT: Differential Aptitude Tests is used for personal and career assessment which tests one’s abilities in different fields, such as verbal reasoning, numerical reasoning, mechanical reasoning, and space relations.

Brain mapping is a tool to assess an individual’s personality based on Howard Gardner’s Multiple Intelligence Theory. It helps identify strengths and weaknesses. Assessing your personality can help with self-awareness.
This testing is based on dermatoglyphics, which is a study of the finger patterns. Finger patterns are unique and are heavily linked with one’s genetic composition and nervous system. The ridge formations of the skin of an individual appears during the third and fourth month of fetal development and so the fingerprints remain unchanged during a lifetime.
The test is based on prints which are entered into a system. It assesses various aspects of your personality based on ridges count and its shape. A report is generated from USA within 48 hours. This is followed by a session of counselling with the either one of our expert psychologists or renowned educational psychologist – Dr. Alka Kalra (subject to availability)

Brain activation is intensive brain training through established tools and techniques to optimize one’s potential. In this training, brain gym, eye gym, and brain waves are used. These help in improving focus and concentration.
Brain Gym: A series of exercises to boost the brain functions and synchronizes the left and the right hemisphere of the brain to work simultaneously. Various physical activities are sequenced which leads to the whole brain development.
Eye gym: Eye and hand coordination is a very important aspect of teaching and learning. By this, we not improve observation capacity of an individual but also significantly impact the focus and concentration. It improves what has been looked at by the eyes, and directs hands to move and react accordingly by enhancing the reaction time and strategic thinking.
Brain Waves: When these waves are played the participants find it extremely easy to slide into a meditated state of mind releasing all accumulated stress.
At the end of the training, participants are able to recognize the color of any ball handed over to them blindfolded. They are even able to read from a business card blindfolded. This is an extremely powerful training especially for those who have less attention span and want to work on their focus and concentration.
If you are born dyslexic, your brain remains dyslexic but then there is a method which can bring both kids and adults to come out of dyslexia. Dr. Alka believes that dyslexia can be corrected for a lifetime if proper learning systems and methods are followed. The training program at Eduscan is for the duration of 35 hours which is based on the Ron Davis dyslexia correction method. Dyslexia correction training was developed by Ron Davis who was an engineer and had dyslexia until the age of 38. He developed this training to correct his dyslexia. (Marshall,2005)
This 35 hours training caters to individuals with learning difficulties such as dyslexia, dyspraxia, ADHD and dyscalculia. The focus of this training is on correcting reading, writing, math, coordination, and attention. It stops the disorientation as they learn how to use picture thinking in a positive way and overcome the learning difficulties.
People can take this training at their own pace and can book a 2 or 3 hours session accordingly. A maximum of 8 hours of training is recommended per week.
A slot can be booked for the below-mentioned timings:

Untap Your Hidden Potential Training
This one day course is designed to work on your belief system. Individuals undergo a complete paradigm shift in their thinking patterns as a result of this training. Dr. Alka Kalra personally conducts this training. She believes that individuals are a byproduct of their thoughts, and working on their inherent thought helps in diluting the subconscious pressures which are negative.
This training will be conducted on the 21st of September, 2018 at Umm al-Quwain.
This full-day training will be divided into 3 sessions. The focus of this training is:
The first session will help in venturing into your sub-conscience which is 90% of the ice-berg and diluting the underlying fears, phobias, and obstacles to success. In this one and a half hour session, Dr. Alka Kalra will take you through a few steps on how to deal with fears and phobias. The steps include how to identify your fear, how to identify factors that bring discomfort to our body, how to relax our body in such extreme situations and finally how to rationalize our fears and effectively face them.
The second session will help in identifying your passions and guiding you on effective decision making. Some people have the fear of dealing with success. People are even phobic of their own success, they don’t even know how to handle it. They are so fearful that they are not able to achieve what they are capable of achieving just because of the mental block. This mental block is ‘I KNOW I CAN’T’! This session will help you remove this mental block and improving self-esteem.
The third session will support you in enjoying your relationships to the optimum so that you and your loved ones beckon the heights of success. How to manage your relationships whether it is with your kids or spouse. Dr. Alka will teach you a few steps through various interesting activities that you can follow throughout your life with your loved ones whenever you are facing issues with your relationship with them.
‘Sit on the driver’s seat of your life and drive it to any destination where you want to’ – Dr. Alka Kalra
